Victron Quattro Inverter / Charger

Since being introduced to the market in 2009 the Victron Quattro has proved to be a key component for marine, vehicle and off grid applications and is one of our top selling inverter/chargers.

Why are they so popular?  Unlike most combined inverter/chargers the Victron Quattro has two AC inputs - one for mains and one for a generator; or in the case of two generators: one for each generator. This allows integration of devices and no need for a transfer switch between them.

With power supply in marine/vehicle and off grid application being critical one of the other huge advantages of the Quattro is that it has two AC Outputs , so there is no break in the functionality of the unit. So should there be a grid failure, or shore or generator power is disconnected, the Quattro takes over the supply to the connected loads. It’s a fast switch too - less than 20 milliseconds – which ensures that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption or loss of data. The second output is live only when AC is available on one of the inputs of the Quattro. Loads that should not discharge the battery, such as air-conditioning or a water heater can be connected to this output.

Just like the Victron Multi family, the Quattro is equipped with PowerAssist. Where peak power is so often required only for a limited period, the Quattro will make sure that insufficient mains or generator power is immediately compensated by power from the battery. When the load reduces, the spare power is used to recharge the battery. These values can be set via the optional remote panel or through the VE Configure software (via the MK2-USB PC interface)

For applications where larger power requirements are needed Quattro’s can be operated in parallel – up to 30 ( 3 sets of 10) can be designed for larger systems.

A Quattro is easy to install and configure – which makes it perfect for systems being installed remotely or in compact environments;  and should the settings need to be changed this can be done in minutes via DIP Switches or Victron V.E. Net software.

How to size a Quattro for your requirements? The extensive range consists of Quattro 3kVA, 5kVA, 8kVA and 10kVA -so sizing to fit project requirements is easy. Our technical desk suggests that if you are not sure which one is right for you to just drop them an email on sales@energy-solutions.co.uk, or call 01634 290772.
