First JCB B40 Battery Boxes Ready For Dispatch

posted on: Mar 12 2015 in Off grid, Industrial

The first set of JCB B40 Battery Boxes will be leaving JCB Power Products dealer Energy Solutions this week ready to fulfil orders across the country. The innovative power storage system has received an enthusiastic welcome from the market and initial uptake on the new product has been very encouraging. These units represent the first installation of orders to be delivered by JCB to JCB Power Products dealer Energy Solutions, who will deliver them to a range of customers later this week.

The Battery Box is compatible with all makes and sizes of generator as well as mains electricity, ensuring it can be effectively charged on any site.  The system uses sealed gel batteries to store spare electrical energy while the generator is running during busy periods in the day. It can then be used to provide power at low use times; for instance during the night, allowing the generator to be stopped, saving fuel and reducing noise and emissions.  And because it is renewables-ready clients can connect additional elements as and when they are ready for even more savings.

Explains Energy Solutions Head of Sales Mark Penny: “We see the Battery Box as a key product for the construction and rental industries. The reduction in generator fuel costs is a major saving for businesses that require power on site 24/7, and the loading ensures that generators run efficiently and servicing costs decline. The additional bonus is that for periods or areas where noise is an issue the batteries provide silent power – essential in certain built-up areas.”

Installed in a sturdy steel canopy, the JCB Battery Box delivers up to 7.3kVA of continuous power output with a 20kVA peak, and can be used in both 50Hz and 60Hz configurations. With zero emissions the battery pack can be used inside buildings or in sensitive areas. Total storage capacity is 40kWh and the recommended nominal discharge is 50%, to prolong the life of the batteries.

Concludes Mark Penny: “The first deliveries going out this week are for clients in construction. The B40 answers some critical issues for them: the reduction in fuel and servicing costs are the primary ones but in addition the unit has multiple lifting points, is compact and lightweight, making it easy to move between sites. Also, the significant CO2 reductions help them achieve elements of their environmental policies with no loss of efficiency.  Overall the B40 Battery Box offers a unique solution and addresses a real need within the industry.”
